Just a quickie… most people who submit to Lensroll.com do so with thoughtfulness and purpose. I click through to a lot of lenses. Most are good, some are great.
Then there’s the woeful ones. Though worse than a bad lens is a bad lensmaster. Thankfully we have only a few of them.
They’re the ones that don’t read instructions. In all likelihood they’re not reading this either, but I feel the need to vent.
Occasionally we have people who submit far more than two lenses, despite the fact that it says to only submit two. If there’s 3 I’ll leave them alone, if the lensmaster has submitted quality lenses (but they won’t be considered for the Featured Lens of the Day honor… at least the manual bump).
But if it’s more than 3… off to Delete Status we go!
I’ve seen 10, even TWENTY lenses from the same lensmaster in the queue. BLAM. GONE.
When it’s a ridiculous amount I also send an email to my webiness partner Greg to delete the user and flush the database. Thankfully it’s never been a case of anyones name I’ve recognised. It seems that if I know you by name then you’re a good egg! And a credit to not only Squidoo but the Internet!
I just thought I’d mention this in case anyone is disappointed in seeing others trying to abuse or game the system. I’ve added a bit of hands on in the quality control department and have weeded out the truly pitiful submissions and the wrongdoers so the site maintains its value and therefore a worthwhile addition to your online promotional arsenal.
So if you’re reading this, keep up the good work!
