Trending Topics and Live Preview

| February 16, 2013 | 0 Comments More

stripeWe’ve quietly been doing a little bit of development to the site in the early months of 2013. Makeing small tweaks here and there. Many are simple cosmetic changes and a few fixes to pesky Mogwai like “Spike” that have plagued the site for a few years

Trending Topics

First up. We’ve added a function that will show a story on the front page based on the story’s popularity. This automated feature is a way to spotlight a popular submission based on members interaction.

We’ve pulled in a thumbnail of the site based on the story submission’s url and linked the title text directly to the page.

A trending topic may stay up for a maximum of 168 hours. If a newer story out-performs within that time period, it will automatically become the new trending topic. The Noise Ratio score is determined by all activity in the story history.

Features:

  • Automatically selects the Trending Topic based on story popularity and performance
  • Automatically grabs the domain thumbnail using wimg.ca
  • Links directly to your domain page

Live Preview

Another new feature added to Lensroll is live story preview. We’ve condense the submission process to a single page and users can see an Ajax preview of their story displayed as they fill in the submission fields.

submit

If you experience any problems with submitting stories we want to hear about it.

Enjoy
